El significado de este nombre no es conocido.
Mario Servodidio says: Servodidio means Servant Of God. A pastor of the catholic church is called a Servo di Dio in Italy. The name originated in the south of Italy. Probably in the Calabria region, which is the tip of the nose (mainland). According to relatives it was given to an ancestor who did of meaning for the catholic church. He probably bought it in my opinion (no facts to support that opinion). I was told that the name Servodidio has crossed the ocean relatively recent. My uncle who passed away a few years ago said he remembered a distant uncle of his moving to the united states after some sort of scandal. Mind that a scandal for the generation I'm referring to (in the south of Italy) could be two lovers holding hands while not being married. The Servodidio family is not very large. The surname is rare and according to my knowledge all people with that name are relatively close related. My late father claimed he knew everyone with our last name. The most of them still living in Calabria, a smal branch in Rome and my direct relatives in Valle d'Aosta (way up north, 50 km from the swiss border). My uncle was the first to go up north because he was stationed there in the military. After a little while the other family members (6 brothers, 2 sisters, my grandpa and grandmother) joined him one by one. this was in the last fase of world war 2 (my guess would be around 1943). In 1949 my father traveled several years trough Europe. Came home again and left Italy in 1958 (by Vespa scooter, 150 cc, 1100 km!) for a holiday in The Netherlands, followed by his second youngest brother. My father never returned from his holiday and stayed in Holland until he passed away in 2016 at age 85. Anyone knowing more or other details about our roots, please feel free to contact me. I'm easy to find being the only Mario Servodidio left in Europe (I was named after my uncle who passed away 6 years ago.). Mario Servodidio Nov. 2017
